We’re in this together:  Celebrating team Stoke’s CQC inspection result

We are delighted to congratulate our colleagues and partners at Stoke-on-Trent City Council on being awarded a “Good” rating by the Care Quality Commission in their recent inspection.  This is a well-earned recognition of the council’s dedication to improving adult social care across the city, and we are proud to have played a small part in that journey.

Throughout the report, we were delighted to see the value of lived experience consistently recognised.  The Insight Academy, which we have co-created and delivered through Changing Futures, was described as having benefited a broad range of local organisations – from the local authority and police to health services, housing providers, and volunteers.  It was particularly affirming to read that the Insight Academy’s work is leading to excellent outcomes.

Our wider involvement in the Changing Futures programme was also highlighted.  The inspectors recognised the importance of the independently chaired Multiagency Resolution Group (MARG), where people with lived experience work alongside professionals to remove systemic barriers and support individuals facing multiple disadvantages.  We are proud that our peer support team’s empathetic, trauma-informed approach has been recognised as effective in helping people reconnect, rebuild trust, and take steps towards their goals.

We believe passionately in the power of people with lived experience to shape better services and stronger communities.  It means a great deal to us to see that belief reflected in the council’s work and validated by the CQC’s findings.

We are excited to take this opportunity to recognise and celebrate the Council’s success in delivering culture change, partnership, and a shared vision for lived experience.
